Kamy Smelser
Managing Editor, Writer
Kamy is currently a junior at Columbia studying journalism; her writing has appeared in ChicagoTalks and Gateway Journalism Review. She enjoys reporting on education, food and culture, with hopes of writing for an education or food magazine in the future. Kamy loves to cook lots of pasta and try new recipes, and go on a run when she actually has the energy. When she’s not doing either of those things, she likes watching New Girl with her roommate and making puppy chow. “As someone who dreams of writing children’s books one day, I have a small collection of about 20 children’s books,” Kamy says.
Faith Malinowski

Faith is a senior journalism student at Columbia and her work can be found on ChicagoTalks. After graduation, she plans to start crossing off items on her bucket list, travel more and find a new place to call home out west. Faith loves live music and tries to go to as many concerts and festivals as possible. She also loves traveling and participating in any and all outdoor activities. “I’m not as much of a collector as I am a loser,” Faith says. “I lose most things, so my collections are ever-evolving: shrinking and growing. However, I guess you could say I collect words and memories— I’ve consistently kept a journal since I was 15. It’s been six years and three full journals!”
Fiona Good-Sirota

Fiona is a senior at Columbia who majors in multimedia journalism and minors in fashion studies. Fiona’s work can be found in Modern Luxury Media, The Columbia Chronicle, ChicagoTalks and Santa Cruz COE News. She loves to write about fashion, beauty and design and hopes to spend time traveling in the future. She enjoys listening to music, spending time with her loved ones and binge-watching true crime documentaries. Fiona spends a lot of her time writing and has recently started teaching herself how to cook.
“I have a rock collection, an accidental tea collection and an affinity for vintage purses,” Fiona says.
Marianna Koonce

Marianna is a CCC alumna who graduated in May 2021 with a major in journalism and a minor in radio. Her future plan is to be a radio personality, specifically because she loves talking about celebrities and social media on air. “It would be amazing if I were to land an opportunity with one of my two favorite radio stations, 92.3 or 107.5,” Marianna said. Marianna enjoys taking walks and watching mukbang shows on YouTube while she eats. She doesn’t collect many things because she hates clutter. If anything, she says, she likes to get rid of things. However, she does have a collection of school IDs from first grade through senior year of college.
Kaya Lane

Kaya is a senior broadcast journalism major graduating in spring 2022. Her work has been featured in ChicagoTalks. Her future plans are to continue writing and possibly doing some photography or video work. Kaya enjoys writing, fashion, makeup and beauty, and going to concerts. She also collects graphic T-shirts of bands.
