Our journey of creating “Buttons to Bones” first began when we learned we each share an interest in collections and the people who curate them. After scavenging Chicago for collectors with unique stories, we found an anthropologist, a fossil hunter, a button lover, a skeleton reconstructor and a “show and tell” talk show host. 

We discovered that “collecting” can mean and look like many things; it can be an occupation or a passion project. Either way, it is a small but mighty piece of who each of these people are. The items these individuals care for give insight into where their hearts lie and who they are.
 
“Buttons to Bones” is a way to get to know five individuals through their passion of collecting. Whether you’re a collector or not, we think you’ll find some interest in the corners of these collectors’ lives.
